COMMENTS The
pattern on this page was introduced on the 1st January, 1949 and remains
in use today
(2006 ). The pattern included specific flags to be used if the lines
needed to be extended. It is possible that this change may have occured
as part of the desire to have all allied navies use a common signal
flag system. At some time during the 1970's the flags were changed to
fluorescent colours. Flags Sizes ( As ammended in 1949 )
Cruisers and above: Size 3 |
Flag
Lines: Flags should be spaced 2ft 6in apart. To prevent gaps at the end the distance may be varied |
Fore-Down
lines are to end at the top with the Guide Flag |
Main-Down to end with the Speed Flag. |
The
Station Flag is always to be at the fore end of the Fore-Down
line |
